The KOALA experiment for (anti)proton–proton elastic scattering

چکیده
The KOALA experiment measures the differential cross section of (anti)proton–proton elastic scattering over a wide range four-momentum transfer squared |t| from 0.0008 to 0.1 (GeV/c)2. These data are essential input for PANDA reach desired absolute precision integrated luminosity determination. is based on fixed target kinematics and uses an internal hydrogen cluster jet target. achieved by measuring total kinetic energy recoil protons near 90°. detector consists silicon germanium single-sided strip sensors with resolution approximately 20 keV 30 (FWHM), respectively. A forward consisting two layers plastic scintillators elastically scattered beam particles in direction close axis. By requiring coincidence detector, large background at small angles suppressed, thereby improving identification events low range. setup has been installed commissioned proton COSY order validate proton–proton scattering. results this commissioning presented here.

Interference experiment with elastic scattering of entangled electrons
The present experiment is performed with electrons, scattered elastically from a target (Figure 1). In this case interference appears, when the two scattered particles are indistinguishable. For identical fermions scattering to 2 / π = Θ is forbidden, whereas for identical bosons the scattering crosssection at that angle is twice as big as the one for distinguishable particles [2]. Therefore sc...
متن کاملResonance effects in elastic cross sections for electron scattering on pyrimidine: Experiment and theory.
We measured differential cross sections for elastic (rotationally integrated) electron scattering on pyrimidine, both as a function of angle up to 180(∘) at electron energies of 1, 5, 10, and 20 eV and as a function of electron energy in the range 0.1-14 eV. The experimental results are compared to the results of the fixed-nuclei Schwinger variational and R-matrix theoretical methods, which rep...
متن کاملElastic-Scattering Data
We report the results of a phase-shift analysis (PSA) of the low-energy elastic-scattering data. Following the method which we had set forth in our previous PSA [1], we first investigate the self-consistency of the low-energy elastic-scattering databases, via two separate analyses of (first) the and (subsequently) the elasticscattering data. There are two main differences to our previous PSA: 1...
متن کاملElastic scattering phenomenology
We argue that, in many situations, fits to elastic scattering data that were historically, and frequently still are, considered “good”, are not justifiably so describable. Information about the dynamics of nucleon-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus scattering is lost when elastic scattering phenomenology is insufficiently ambitious. It is argued that in many situations, an alternative approach is appr...

Features of high energy pp and pA elastic scattering at small t Abstract A method of determination of the real part of the elastic scattering amplitude is examined for high energy proton-proton and proton-nuclei elastic scattering at small momentum transfer. The method allows to decrease the number of model assumptions, to obtain the real part in the narrow region of momentum transfer and check...
